Manchester United have added a match to their pre season tour in Africa by announcing that they will play a game in Nigeria.
United, who will be playing 3 games in South Africa, will then fly into NIgeria to play against fellow Premiership team, and current FA Cup winners, Portsmouth in Abuja. Portsmouth have a strong African core to their team, with the likes of Nigereans Kanu and Utaka, and Ghana’s Muntari. This will be United’s first visit to the soccer mad African country.
Manchester United have only 5 players who will be at the European Championships and so will be fielding a very strong squad for their African visit.
United and Portsmouth will compete for the season opening Community Shield in August and so the Nigeria match will be a dress rehearsal for that.
